-The de minimis threshold was raised from $200 to $800 during President Barack Obama's tenure. The US has one of the most generous de minimis thresholds worldwide. For comparison, the European Union caps its exemption at €150 ($156), Canada at CAD $20 for non-US shipments, and Australia at AUD $1,000, according to TOI report.
-Trump’s executive orders directing 25% levies on Canada and Mexico — plus a 10% duty on China — specify that the “de minimis” exemption for small packages no longer applies.
