Those politicians can get reelected by representing small special interests groups, therefore no need to follow American people’s opinions. In order to spread small interest group's propaganda, they have to manipulate public opinion by creating all sorts of social and international crisis, such as mass shooting to expedite the passing of the gun laws, 911 so America will fight for Israeli's interest in the middle east...

After 2016 when Trump (Putin’s loyalist) was elected, US politics was further worsened and was completely hijacked by rogue foreign powers. Because politicians can easily obtain big foreign nation’s donation and influences to get elected, instead of relying on the grassroots donation in traditional US democracy previously. This caused a dramatic shift in power dynamics and causing US politics to serve foreign nation and to harm its own interest.
