PROSTITUTES KEEP ON TRUCKIN', RESIDENTS SAY MOBILE PRACTITIONERS NOW DEAL ON WHEELS, EAST SIDE MEETING TOLD
They may be called streetwalkers, but some East Side prostitutes are becoming mobile, completing their transactions in vans and rental trucks.
Some at a community meeting Thursday night were surprised to hear about the mobility of prostitutes in their neighborhood. Residents told police they have seen prostitutes using a brown van and a white truck.
"For a while they were using a U-Haul," one woman volunteered.
Whether in a van or a parking lot, East Side residents are fed up with the number of prostitutes in the area.
"It's disgusting. You're raising young children, and you see it going on," one woman said.
About 40 residents and police gathered in the headquarters of CRUCIAL, Citizens for the Redevelopment of United Community Involvement and Leadership, 1609 Genesee St., for a meeting of the East Side COMBAT, or Coordinated Omnibus Municipality Based Anti-Drug Teams.
