typically bamboo, maple, cherry, and walnut cutting boards are recommended






over years, i have used chainsaws on 3 types of oaks (including white oak) , hollyleaf cherry (not the same as the common cherry), and maple.
maple is a real killer to chainsaws. the other two kinds just can't compete with maple in hardness and tightness/compactness.
so, i see why oak is generally not recommended by just looking into those characteristics.
