In Baden-Württemberg - the home of savers and miserly people - head of government Winfried Kretschmann (74, Greens) has now set new standards, causing state colleagues, the Bundestag and the federal government to sweat mightily.

A "5-point plan" is intended to save 20 percent energy, mainly gas, in the state within a very short time.
