Why don't Harvard grads like telling people that they went to Harvard?
By William Smith (MBA,Harvard)
I have an even worse situation: my undergraduate degree is from Brown, I have graduate degrees from the University of Cambridge and Princeton, as well as an MBA from Harvard.
Many people, like me, who have one or more degrees from distinguished universities, do not as a matter of course say where they went to school because it can sound like boasting. The only reason I have an HBS credential is because it’s relevant when I answer questions about the business school.
Most people with degrees from distinguished universities are modest about their accomplishments.
Edit: I want to thank all of those who find this post interesting and germane. I am humbled by how many have found it so.
Secondary edit: Another reason, now, is the way in which the university shows no moral compass about Hamas, and is the worst university for free speech.
Tertiary edit: Another reason: The English Department is offering a course on—-Taylor Swift.
Quarternary edit: The governing board of the university stood by a president who is without any moral sense and is a plagiarist. Fortunately, she resigned. What happens next?
