最近我们这疙瘩的高中生连连出事，病死的，家暴死的，车祸撞死的，自杀的……你们附近有吗？我们一个搬到南方的邻居说，他们那边有个高中生在毕业典礼前几小时出车祸撞死，太让人痛心了。还有中部的朋友说四个高中生party完后飙车，连撞两辆车和电线杆，整个车都撞得变形了，发动机都飞到路边。爸妈哭死，说娃出事前五分钟还打来电话，说几分钟后回家。又絮絮说道娃准备上什么大学，什么专业，正在打工赚钱……
很多高中和大学都是这几天开毕业典礼是吧。想起前几年在东部大学的校报上看到新闻，几个毕业生去纽约party，回来时在高速上撞车。当时的新闻标题非常抢眼，类似花季年华cut short。我还转发到旧站的校版感叹，刚刚去翻没翻到。只找到更早的一个英语专业的毕业生车祸去世，她去世前给校报写的毕业献礼文一时走红：
“We’re so young. We’re so young. We’re twenty-two years old. We have so much time.”
前几天刚有人贴过这首歌，再贴一下，给永远留在青春季的孩子们。

找到以前发在旧站的毕业生车祸新闻了，原来就是那个英语专业女生；一群毕业生的车祸是另一桩事。新闻标题是Life Interrupted。这个女生写作很好，读书时就在NPR、New York Times上发表文章，在New Yorker上有blog。毕业时找到New Yorker的editorial assistant工作，正要搬去纽约。当时和男朋友一起开车去参加她爸的生日宴会，她爸说准备好了她最爱吃的大龙虾和生日蛋糕，结果女儿没来，来的是state trooper。男朋友也是同年同校毕业，开车失控，撞到高速护栏上，车翻了好几个跟斗。男友只受轻伤。女生当场死亡。
女生文字很漂亮。再抄几段发在校报毕业专刊上的文章，标题是“The Opposite of Loneliness”:
"But let us get one thing straight: the best years of our lives are not behind us. They’re part of us and they are set for repetition as we grow up and move to New York and away from New York and wish we did or didn’t live in New York. I plan on having parties when I’m 30. I plan on having fun when I’m old. …
We’re so young. We’re so young. We’re twenty-two years old. We have so much time. There’s this sentiment I sometimes sense, creeping in our collective conscious as we lay alone after a party, or pack up our books when we give in and go out – that it is somehow too late. That others are somehow ahead. More accomplished, more specialized. More on the path to somehow saving the world, somehow creating or inventing or improving. That it’s too late now to BEGIN a beginning and we must settle for continuance, for commencement. …
What we have to remember is that we can still do anything. We can change our minds. We can start over. Get a post-bac or try writing for the first time. The notion that it’s too late to do anything is comical. It’s hilarious. We’re graduating college. We’re so young. We can’t, we MUST not lose this sense of possibility because in the end, it’s all we have."

虽说开车最主要的是小心，开一辆结实一点的车是不是会好点？撞了伤了至少不死？
我去年在ER见到一个7岁的孩子脑死亡吧，阴影太重了，时不时想起来都觉得难过，尤其是他妈怎么活啊
臭男人离婚后和女友在半夜开车，估计也喝多了，小孩放在后座睡觉没系安全带，撞了树。狗男女都活着，孩子没了
所以有娃的索南索女，只要凑合还能过，还是等孩子长达再离婚吧

据说16-19岁开车死亡率是最高的。我说推迟驾车年纪是有人提过的。是有科学道理的。wh. 写了： 2023年 5月 27日 12:15 美国是不是太离不开车了？就跟枪一样
