空调设定温度讨论
一般的空调夏季室内设定温度不能低于68F,这是一方面由于家用空调本身设计能力的要求,也是由于房子结构的原因。同时空调也设定了室外condenser制冷运行的温度不能低于60F, 更甚者说不能低于65F。这是由于一般制冷的CONDENSER不具有控制室外热能交换的自动控制,例如CONDENSER FAN的风速调整,COMPRESSOR压缩能力的调节,当然变频空调除外(目前还是很少)。
另一方面,当室外温度过高,就像今年夏季高温,对空调的影响非常大。我给大家简要说一说,空调安装有一个最高的温度设定值,例如
Minneapolis 的最高设定温度是95F,但是在100F的高温下,空调制冷能力下降,也许很长时间运行,也不能降低到设定温度,这是正常的,不是说你的空调制冷能力不够,只能说在极高温度下的能力不够,因为空调设计温度对于一个特定地区的房子是year's around ,不是某个短时段的极限温度,所以此时应该调高温度设定,让空调有喘息时间。

可以考虑Ecobee的温控。它可以设温差。比如温差3度 —》温度设在76. 温度到78开机。到75停。等升到78时开。Honeywell的就不行。设到76,就拼命的保持76. 结果启动频繁。

我在原来的家版有一个自己装Ecobee温控的帖子。现在google cache里只有文字,没有照片了。用了Ecobee后再也不会用Honeywell的了。
Ecobee还可以设heating时多少度温差才启用电加热条。Honeywell要想不让电热条启动,就得一度一度的升设定温度。只要设定温度比现在室内温度高两度以上,立马kick in 电热条。非常傻。

根据不同地区的温度值而定,如TEXAS DALLAS 温度设定值就高,99F, 而北部的温度值就低些, MINNEAPOLIS, 88F, 叫 DESIGN TEMPERATURE

是,只不过在101F下,CONDENSER运行时间更长,但不会有问题,因为CONDENSER的HEAD PRESSURE 会自动增加,也就是若室外温度105F时候,CONDENSER 可能会调高到118F,产生的温度差,让CONDENSER FAN产生的AIRFLOW 对流交换。其实你说的101F也是一个时段温度,而设定温度是一个温度平均值。

a rule of thumb, for every one degree increase in outside temperature, the AC efficiency drop by one percent.
For a well insulated home, it is a good idea to set the temperature to lower at night when outside temperature is low and let the heat capacity of the house to work to your advantage. The minimum outdoor temperature for AC can be looked up in manufacture's spec sheet.
Without winter package, it is generally 45 to 55. The newer inverter units can go very low.

I think this is the design temperature of the home for it to be certified energy star. The AC has to be sized properly based on the design temperature for the home to be certified. It is not the maximum temperature the AC is designed for regardless of home size.
The maximum temperature of AC depends on the refrigerant. For R410a is around 120F, this is due to the critical temperature of the refrigerant being around 140F. The AC can not cool at the critical temperature since there is no phase transition.

The design temperature is used for sizing a COOLING OR HEATING SYSTEM, it is a basic material when you calculate a MUNAL J, I talked about the heat gain or the heat loss for a house, not the limitation of the refrigerant temperature, that is a different topic. Any refrigerant has it's maximum temperature as well as minimum temperature for the design of operating requirements, the system will be shut down by the high-pressure switch if the refrigerant pressure is over the limitation of the design pressure. The modern ac system uses a large coil to cool down the refrigerant liquid and get a proper subcooling value, it also uses a lower compression ratio to decrease the compressor workforce.
