Nero's Human Torches. After the burning of Rome, Nero caused the priests, whom he accused of the crime, to be enveloped in wrappers, and burned like torches. In the centre is Nero in his litter as a spectator. Illustration for The Beautiful Story by JW Buel (Historical Publishing, 1890).
