握个手，我也是同学生日记得贼溜，还有小时候爸妈也让我背古诗词，但是不知道啥意思

你现在还记得几个？我大都忘了，只记得最要好的四五个和跟我近的几个，尤其跟我同生日的，哈哈哈。
古诗词就是太难懂了……我觉得教儿歌和浅显一点的古诗词，对小孩更友好一些

这种公开信就是给本校的员工看的。哈佛的校长都要退休的人了，哪管的那么多。下任肯定就直接找legal cousel去问。

但是统计上的趋势不可逆转的，从90年代到00年代这二十年出国的，都是中国的精英，这些人的孩子这两年都在申请大学。所以last name是zhang, chen什么的肯定要难一些。亚裔内部肯定要细分了，菲律宾，柬埔寨，老挝都可能加分。这些在last name都很容易看出来。

有关心这个的可以听一下高院关于这个案子的debate, 特别是关于申请文书essay怎么看待的那一段是精华。各校legal counsel肯定要用这个来给招生的那些人做training。

早上看到高法否决哈佛和北卡大学的平权法案招生政策；不到中午，连续看到哈佛和耶鲁校长的公开信，都是表示大学的核心价值是多元化和包容，这一点绝不会变；耶鲁校长加了一句保证守法，招生办和各个学院将审核招生政策，法学院也会提供专家建议。

你们觉得以后的招生会有变化吗？如果不变，官司是不是会没完没了地打下去……

Today, the Supreme Court delivered its decision in Students for Fair Admissions v. President and Fellows of Harvard College. The Court held that Harvard College’s admissions system does not comply with the principles of the equal protection clause embodied in Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. The Court also ruled that colleges and universities may consider in admissions decisions “an applicant’s discussion of how race affected his or her life, be it through discrimination, inspiration, or otherwise.” We will certainly comply with the Court’s decision.

跟这句话有关，就是开了个口子，虽然不能公然以race录取，但是从申请文书里面披露出来的racial background是可以用来做决定的。我记得当时就这一点辩论了好久。

那你真不错。我常常觉得无话可说，就不祝生日了。不过收到生日祝福是很开心的事，下次想起来还是应该像你一样祝一祝。我一同学说记得以前年年生日我们都联系，有一年流行pc-to-phone，我深更半夜给他打了个生日骚扰电话——我好像是不知道他在哪里，时差多少。他踩着拖鞋瞌充懵懂地跑到宿舍走廊里接电话，没好气地想骂人，一听是生日电话就高兴了，哈哈。

辩论我没看。大法官这句话是挺有争议。我本来在另一条新闻里看到的是从申请人的角度来说的，说申请人如果对自己的种族背景有经历有感想，那么直书无妨，无需回避。这么说我觉得无可厚非。但换成大学的角度，说大学可以考虑申请人关于种族背景的自述，那简直不是暗示是明示了。不知道辩论时有什么背景，让大法官加上这么一句。

嗯，校长们从官司一开始到现在的公开回复一直是强硬的，多元多样化这一点始终没有改过口。撇开利益，大学或任何机构敢和政府唱对台戏还真是多元。没有一个中国校长敢对政府说半个不字。
