AMD future is UDNA
Say goodbye to RDNA and CDNA.
The unified architecture known as UDNA now has a rumored debut date. According to Zhangzhonghao, a Chiphell hardware leaker with a good track record (including leaked roadmaps), AMD is said to be preparing to introduce the UDNA Gaming GPU no sooner than Q2 2026. This could be the next-generation Radeon, which may or may not focus on the enthusiast segment once again. The RDNA4 architecture is already confirmed to target more affordable segments.
The leaker claims that there is no RDNA5 or a successor to CDNA. AMD is reportedly returning to a unified architecture, similar to GCN, which powered one of the most popular GPU architectures to date, Vega. The unified architecture may simplify development, but it is unclear how it will affect both consumer and data-center segments, given that some components (like ray tracing) are not required for both.
AMD UDNA Rumors
There is no longer an RDNA5 codename. After RDNA4, it will be UDNA.
The MI400 and RX9000 will both use UDNA, with an ALU design similar to GCN.
UDNA gaming GPUs are tentatively planned for mass production in Q2 2026.
Sony’s PS6 will adopt UDNA, and the CPU is still undecided between ZEN4 and ZEN5. Sony’s handheld will also use AMD hardware.
Microsoft’s handheld is said to be choosing between Qualcomm and AMD, but I’m not sure.

However, it is clear that it will be powered by AMD architecture again, which supposedly also includes a gaming handheld.
