I have a 2012 cruze, eco trim, 1.4L GM LUV engine (turbo), 6 speed M32 manual transmission. Now the mileage is ~80K.
Recently I have taken a long trip, 1,700 mile one way drive. While I was on the travel, I found out that my clutch has a little problem. it is the clutch slave cylinder on the way out. I was in new England area, I was almost chicken out to let the mechanic to change the clutch kit (~$2,500). Finally I made a decision to drive my car home (Texas).
I decided to change the clutch slave cylinder myself. I also checked the labor cost for changing the clutch kit (flywheel, pressure plate, friction disc, slave cylinder). The labor cost is $700 in Texas.
Last Sunday, I went to harbor freight, bought an engine hoist. The original price was $269, it is on $50 coupon, so the final price is $219+tax.
today, I partially assembled the engine hoist. I will continue next weekend.
